Directions to
Apparent Project Artisan House & Boutique
in Port Au Prince, Haiti:
From Delmas:
Turn on Delmas 75, passing Quisqueya Christian School on your right.
Continue descending Delmas 75 (passing the Total gas station on your left followed by Rue Fragnoville on your right) until you reach the international church on your right.

Take the immediate right after this church, leaving Delmas 75 and passing street merchants and a small bridged drainage channel until you come to the intersection at Rue Catalpas.
Turn left on Rue Catalpas and drive (passing Quisqueya Chapel on your left) until this road ends at a "T" intersection. At the "T" you will see a brightly colored kindergarten ahead and slightly to your right.
Turn Right Here. This road will curve to the left and eventually you will see a tent city on your left. As soon as you see this tent city (called "Sinias") look for a street on your right called, "Rue Chevallier".
Take a right on Rue Chevallier (it's spraypainted on a wall) and follow this road until it ends at another "T" intersection.
Take a right onto this road ("Rue Cassagnol Prolongee") and look for the first building on your left. We are #16, and the building has rounded windows and a red roof.
Welcome to The Apparent Project!

If you need to ship items to the Apparent project, please go to Rays of Hope for Haiti and click on the "Get Involved" tab. Then click "Shipping Forms". Down at the bottom is a link for Sea Container Ministry Packet. Print & fill out this form. You must fill out the Contact Information Sheet and the Manifest Packing List. You also need to print off the Shipping Labels and fill those out.
Fill out the "Receiving Organization Information" as follows:
Apparent Project
13 Rue Dahlia, Delmas 75
Port Au Prince, Haiti
Contact Person: Shelley Clay
Phone # (509) 3726-7832
E-Mail: shelleyinhaiti@gmail.com
On the shipping labels you can just write: Shelley Clay/Apparent Project
On the Manifest Packing List (Used for Customs) fill in the contact name and info on top and then the description would be "empty cereal boxes" or whatever item you are shipping.
Once you have all the paperwork filled out, measure your box. Length x Width x Height. Divide that by 1728 and then multiply that number by 8.
Example: 21 x 14 x 9 = 2646 divided by 1728 = 1.53 Now take 1.53 x 8 = 12.24
So this box will cost $12.24 to put on the Sea Container to Haiti.
Enclose a check made out to Rays of Hope for Haiti for your ammount (i.e. $12.24) and seal your box up with all the completed paper work laying on top of your cereal boxes (or other items) inside. Then ship it to Rays of Hope for Haiti. The address is listed on the Contact Information sheet. If you have more than one box to ship - mark the outside of the box (1 of 3), (2 of 3), (3 of 3), etc. Just put all of your papers and one check for all the boxes in the first box. Mark the first box "Packing List Enclosed" - that way they will know to open it and get your paperwork out. Otherwise the box will just sit. They do not put it on the Sea Container until they have payment.
Rays of Hope for Haiti is an extremely helpful organization. This Sea Container Ministry allows those who wish to send contributions to Haiti to pay by cubic foot for anything they wish to send. Once a Sea Container is full, they put it on a ship to Haiti. Part of their ministry is taking care of all of the customs and documentation needed. Normally, when you just ship something to Haiti, the government requires the recipient to pay $1.50 per pound to receive it. For example, if you packed up 5 boxes and the total weight was over 130 pounds, if you just sent it to the Apparent Project, it would cost us $200.00 to receive it! In the past we have paid $500 for coloring books and crayons we did not need, $100 for yarn we could not use, etc. With Rays of Hope for Haiti, the 5 boxes at 130 lbs. are going to cost you $42.16 plus whatever your costs are to get the items to Grand Rapids from where you live. It will NOT cost anything for us to receive it. We can not receive surprise donations that cost us money that we didn't plan to spend, and we believe the cost for shipping will cause donors to think more critically about what they are sending and how to steward their donation resources most appropriately. In general, if we can buy things here in Haiti, then a financial donation towards supply needs makes for double the positive impact on Haiti's economy. However, things that are not sold, such as your recycled cereal boxes, remain incredibly helpful.
I hope that this is helpful to you. If you have any questions, please feel free to call and talk to Rays of Hope for Haiti at (616) 633-4258. They are very friendly and very helpful in answering your questions.
