The art of the Apparent Project

The Apparent Project is training artisans in the fine arts, sewing, and craft-making so that they can produce marketable art, clothing, jewelry, and other goods. Currently the artisans workshop is in development while our arts and crafts teachers research how to educate cross-culturally in the Haitian context. This phase includes teaching art to English speaking Haitians so that the communication process can be fined tuned and a vocabulary for Kreyol art education can be developed. To the right you can see the progress of two students from these preliminary classes after 3 months of training. These students had very little previous experience with art. Many of the poor Haitians that will be trained through the artisans workshop will have previous experience in painting, so we expect beautiful results.

We are currently exploring potential markets for Haitian made-artwork and crafts. If you have a gallery, jewelry shop, clothing store, or any other venue for marketing Haitian fine art or crafts, please contact us. We would be excited to hear from you. This is the primary means through which the Apparent Project is able to provide an opportuniy to families to escape extreme poverty.

The Apparent Project artisans' workshop is also in constant need of supplies and tools and we are
very thankful for your donations of materials. These can range from beading supplies and fabric to canvas, brushes, pastels and paints.
